Paul Bettany

Paul Bettany:

Trivia:

Son of Thane Bettany. Has one older sister named Sarah, who lives in Cornwall (England) with her daughter Emaly.

Developed laryngitis after filming A Knight's Tale (2001) because of all the yelling he had to do as Geoffrey Chaucer.

Also plays the guitar, and used to busk on Westminster Bridge in London.

Acted for a year with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Has a stepson named, Kai (mother is Jennifer Connelly).

August 5, 2003 - his wife, Jennifer Connelly, gave birth to their first child, a boy.

Son's name is Stellan, named after the actor Stellan SkarsgÄrd who acted with him in Dogville (2003).

Apparently turned down the role of the Tooth Fairy in Red Dragon (2002) (most probably offered to him after his frightening appearance as psycho gangster in Gangster No. 1 (2000)) in favour of a much more poorly paid role in Lars von Trier's Dogville (2003).

Has appeared in many theatre productions, debuting in Stephen Daldry's production of "An Inspectors Calls," grabbing the American film industry's attention in Joe Penhall's "Love and Understanding." He also appeared in "One More Waster Year" and "Stranger's House."

Nominated for Best Actor for his role in Gangster No1 by London Film Critics Circle Awards.

Paul's "acting heroes" are Humphrey Bogart, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Peter O'Toole and Vincent Cassel.

When he was 16, his younger brother Matthew, who was 8, died in a fall. Consequently, he claimed to be obsesed with having lots of children.

Won Evening Standard Film Award 2001 for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Geoffrey Chaucer in _A Knight's Tale_ .

Writer/director Brian Helgeland wrote the role of Chaucer in A Knight's Tale (2001) specifically for Paul. He "refused" to do the movie without him. The production companies did not think Bettany was known well enough, Helgeland thought that if he backed down on his choice of Bettany, he would have to back down on everything else.

Dated Laura Fraser.

Was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in June 2004.

Lists his favourite foods as cheese and broccoli; and his favourite drink is whisky.

Hotness Factor:

Jeri's Opinion: I give him a 10, because I love him. He is an amazing actor, and he is just oozing w. sex appeal, although some may disagree. I love the fact that he is british, his joking personality, and the fact that he is pretty. Plus, in Wimbledon, his body kicks serious ass.

Adrien Brody

Adrien Brody

Trivia

His mother is the Hungarian-born photojournalist Sylvia Plachy.

In 2003, at the age of 29, he replaced Richard Dreyfuss as the youngest actor ever to win the Best Actor Academy Award, for his role in "The Pianist".

Has great appreciation for hip-hop. Like Beatnuts, one of his favorite groups, Brody is also from Queens.

Performed magic shows at children's birthdays as a child, as 'The Amazing Adrien'.

In 2004, Esquire Magazine named him the Best Dressed Man in America.

Owned and drove a 'Hummer', which is famous in Hollywood for being Arnold Schwartzenegger's favorite vehicle. It did ten miles per gallon, and was originally designed for warfare.

Was considered for a role in Pearl Harbor (2001)

Was dressed by Zegna for the Academy Awards.

Is a big hip-hop fan and plans on becoming a producer. He is being mentored by RZA.

Ranked #21 on VH1's 100 Hottest Hotties.

Has a chihuahua called Ceelo.

His father, Elliot Brody, is a retired history teacher of Polish-Jewish descent who lost family members in the Holocaust. His mother Sylvia Plachy, the renown photographer, fled Communist Hungary as a child during the 1956 revolution against Russia.

Taking acting classes as a youth, by age 13 he had done an off-Broadway play and a PBS-TV-movie.

In 1992, he was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident in which he flew over a car and crashed feet-first into a crosswalk. He spent months recuperating.

To prepare for his title role in "The Pianist," he learned to play Chopin on the piano and shed 30 pounds off his already-thin frame. He cut himself off from his real life and gave up his car and apartment because he felt responsible to those Polish Jews who had suffered and wanted to connect with their hurt and despair.

Shares a birthday with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Admits a shot of his parents in a passionate, back-bending embrace inspired his famous kiss with Halle Berry at the Oscars.

Is the only American actor to win a Cesar, the French equivalent to the Oscar.

Has been compared to Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino for his unconventional acting skills and unique looks.

Did sessions in an isolation tank, performed prison exercises, and went on a protein diet for his role in "The Jacket".

He was furious when his nose was broken during the final fight in "Summer of Sam", but when he had it fixed, he didn't change it. That nose is now Brody's most identifying feature and sets him apart from other actors.

Share a birthday with fellow Academy Award winner Julie Christie.

Close friends with Asia Argento and Benicio Del Toro.

Adrien hosted Saturday Night Live on 10 May 2003 and came out in full Rastafarian attire to introduce the night's musical guest Sean Paul. Speaking in a Jamaican accent, he carried on for a full minute before finally bringing on Paul. While the skit was funny, Brody did not obtain clearance to perform such a scene. Because of this, Lorne Michaels (who is notorious for hating unscripted, unannounced, and improvised performances) banned Brody from ever appearing on the show again.

Hotness Factor (Out of 10):

Jeri's Opinion: I think that he deserves a 9.5. 10 for his body, and 9 for his face. I don't know, it just does something for me. Even though his nose is larger than usual, it stands out.

Sara's Opinion: He's definitely a 9.5. That nose is huge, but it works for him. There's just something irrisistible about him, and not just that bod. Sheesh... He must work out. I mean, MUST. There's no way anyone is born with a washboard like that.

Elijah Wood

Elijah Wood

Dom [Dominic Monaghan] and I looked at it and he said 'We should conquer it.' Once we got to the top, what else was there to do but urinate in it?" [quoted in MX (Melbourne, Australia), December 11, 2003]

[hearing that Sean Astin wanted to correct rumors that his character Sam Gamgee had a homosexual love for Frodo:] "Yeah, we've never had that perspective on the relationship, but there is a real bond and a real closeness. Which was easy for Sean and I because we became so close making the film. So it's a natural thing to display and to show and I think it comes across without any real effort ... Frodo really starts to fail physically and emotionally and mentally, so Sam is there to kind of pick up the pieces and show his affection for Frodo and really almost carry him to the end. So that relationship is really important in this film, particularly. ... I think it's really refreshing and nice. I'm really close with my friends and affectionate, and I don't think that there is anything suspicious about that, necessarily. So it's good to show it and have it be an unisexual thing, definitely." [The Toronto Star, December 12, 2003]

Dressed up and rode on a float as the god of wine and mirth to head the Bacchus 2004 parade in New Orleans, Louisiana, for Mardi Gras in February, 2004.

Hotness Factor (Out of 10)

Jeri's Opinion: Out of 10, I'd give him about 10 billion, just because he is absolutely gorgeous, and I have had a crush on him since the first LOTR movie.

Sara's Opinion: Out of 10, I'd say an 8 *ducks Jeri's meat cleaver*. He's definitely a hottie, for sure, with the biggest blue eyes this side of a Precious Moments calendar. Those things are dangerous, I'm telling you. But I've got my high-sights set elsewhere... That doesn't mean he's not a regular on my shifty favorites list. ;)
